So when ever you change your health care plan your health data remains with the provider, often requiring the new provider to undertake tests to baseline your health profile. Most people do not ask for the records from the last provider as its not the first thing on their mind. Often the provider has them locked away in some remote archive and the request takes months to fulfill. Its time to have Health care information interoperability, which means when you move to a new provider your health care reports and history move with you. This is easily achieved in an all electronic record system, but without government mandates will not happen as often is the case providers do not see the value add.
