What are your ideas to promote greater understanding and appreciation of our individual differences in the US?

Where has the ability to listen gone? We have become a I'm right, you're wrong argumenative culture. The 60 vote closure rule in Congress should have made listening important, but instead. the recent election was much more important in that it allowed the majority party to only need a few votes from the minority party to bring forward bills. It shouldn't have happened that way.
