It’s getting harder and harder these days to afford the luxuries that we once took for granted. I think the government should offer a tax break to companies that have a certain ratio of telecommuters in their employee network. This would help save on energy costs for the company and would benefit the employees by allowing them to save on gas and possibly even daycare for children.

This also benefits the environment because less people are commuting to and from work, and those that still need to be in the office will suffer from less traffic as there would be less people on the road during rush hour.

The companies would benefit by not having to run their HVAC and lighting systems as much, reduce the new for bldg expansions, and lower costs for supplies (paper, TP, paper towels, etc.). I think the idea of telecommuting is great, but less governmental involvement is better. Asking the Feds or States to incentivise this is also asking them to regulate telecommuting, and then that leads down a very ugly path.

The companies can get the benefits of telecommuting with no governmental help. Let them do it themselves.
